yes - the tapes all existed - after a fashion - in the way that they were made to order from master reels each time - and if - one was ordered - i didnt keep records so dont know if each and every one was sold - therefore actually made and out there - we only had 100 cassettes from memory bought - and not all of those were used to make copies - not by a long way i think - the bands and individuals were people i knew and maybe played with - also lemon kittens rehearsals and improvised compositions- the originals of what went onto the two karl blake solo cds, the underneath album, some never was released outside of the tape range - the non me stuff was withoutvchecking if the peopleceanted it out - i wasnt ripping people off - i wanted them/it to be heard - the cassettes came with a booklet/pamplet discribing the stuff - there were two categories - daark inc cassettes and the DHSS (detrimental history sound series - a play on the government acronym DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND SOCIAL SECURITY - the dole, basically - who by chance i ended up working for when i moved to london - dax designed the booklet and text / each was 'aged' with car paint spray - i designed each cassette cover - a fair bitvof the material dated bacjk to when i started making music in 1974 i think - the first band i created - loosely - orange jelly baby and the six white chocolate mice - elsewhere Gland Shrouds was a name i found on a label in a disused kitchen in a place i worked - i applied it to certain lemon kitten recordings - live rehearsal improvisations mostly - and said it was what we were called on sundays!"
