Helmut Peschina is the award-winning Austrian writer, born 7 January 1943 in Klosterneuburg in Austria. He is the author of many radio games, plays, TV games, poetry and radio features. Today he lives in Vienna and Pulkau, the city in the district of Hollabrunn in Lower Austria.
Helmut Peschina grew up in Klosterneuburg, where he attended grammar school and graduated in 1961. He studied Latin, German and theater studies in Vienna and was also taking courses at the Vienna Film Academy. His plays have been translated into American, Bulgarian, Flemish, Italian, Polish, Romanian, Swedish, Slovenian and Hungarian. Helmut Peschina's estate was acquired by the Vienna Library until 2000 in the town hall. Peschina is a member of the IG authors, the Graz authors assembly and the Podium association. From 1981 to 1991 he co-edited the literary magazine Podium. Helmut Peschina is the administrator of the Austrian writer Alois Vogel's († 2005) estate.
